Fundraising Coordinator

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Volunteer Fundraising Coordinator at Borderline Arts. You will be responsible for leading the Borderline Arts Fundraising Team in carrying out fundraising activity to help maximise income from supporters.

The Fundraising Coordinator is:


  • Responsible for the coordination of fundraising events and initiatives for Borderline Arts. This will involve thinking of fun, innovative and successful ideas for fundraising events, planning them and carrying them out with the Fundraising Team. 

  • Meets with the Chair to come up with potential ideas, carries out and delegates tasks to the funding team members to make the event possible and promotes the event. 

  • Liaises directly with the Borderline Arts Chair about any big decisions and changes and keeps close contact with the Chair about all that is going on.

 

The Fundraising Coordinator should: 


  • Identify and suggest fundraising opportunities

  • In conjunction with the treasurer, look at the organisation's overall budget and make sure that the projected goals will cover the required expenses Borderline needs from fundraising money. (If not, there may need to be new events added or higher goals pushed onto the fundraising function.)

  • Develop a fundraising action plan and come up with a sound budget projecting profits as a whole. 

  • Organise meetings with the team and delegate roles to other members of the team 

  • Coordinate the fundraising team – ensure they are completing their allocated tasks, and if not, inform the Chair.

  • Provide weekly updates to the chair regarding the fundraising tasks you have allocated and to whom. 

  • Communicate with external venues/people in order to secure venues etc (email, phone etc)

  • Ensure the event will make a profit.

  • In conjunction with the Treasurer keep records relating to fundraising monies

 

Examples of tasks you will need to delegate to funding team members:


  • Promote/Advertise events by email/social media/posters/website

  • Contacting newspaper/radio to promote the events

  • Sell tickets 

  • Get hold of donated prizes for raffles etc

  • Create props/decorations/tickets/flyers etc for events

  • Ensure all the logistics of the event are covered

 

Knowledge and Skills Required  


Ideally a Fundraising Coordinator is someone who:

  • Can communicate effectively and has excellent interpersonal skills 

  • Has the ability to work well in a team

  • Ensures they are well informed of all organisation activities

  • Ensure they are aware of the future directions and plans of Borderline

  • Has a good working knowledge of what Borderline Arts is all about and what we are fundraising for

  • Is positive and enthusiastic 

  • Can abide by Borderline Arts policies

  • Access to internet, email, web, MS Word, MS Excel or equivalent/compatible

  • Has creative flair and enthusiasm

  • Has good numeracy skills with the ability to accurately enter and record financial data

  • Has experience of using basic databases including Windows based software packages 

  • Has the ability to delegate successfully 

  • Is committed to their role

  • Communicates clearly and regularly with the Borderline Arts Chair (what is happening generally, positive steps forward, if anything is going awry, if yourself or team members are not able to complete tasks, etc: Communication is key!

 

Appointment terms and Time Commitment Required 


  • The Fundraising Officer is appointed for a term, which is negotiated between the Chair and the applicant. The minimum term is 6 months.

  • The estimated time commitment required as the Fundraising Officer of Borderline Arts is 3 hours per week. Some weeks will be much less, some much more – so there is a need for flexibility.

  • Attendance at monthly Committee Meetings (approx 1 hour in length)

  • At all times, remember that Borderline Arts' focus is to raise awareness/understanding of and reduce stigma surrounding BPD, using the arts – ensure whatever you are doing is achieving that aim, or leading us to be able to do that more.
