Mental Health Help and Support

If you are experiencing mental health problems or need urgent support, there are lots of resources you can turn to.

As our charity focuses on challenging discrimination in society, we're unable to provide individual or emergency support for people in crisis. However, there are lots of people who can, some of which are listed below.

If your life is in danger

 If you feel your life is at risk right now, due to your mental health,
or you need urgent medical help, please:

  • ​Call 999 for an ambulance.

  • If you are able, go straight to your nearest A&E.

  • Call your local crisis team – details can be found within our directory or online.

 

If you can't do this yourself, ask someone to assist you. Mental health emergencies are serious. You are not wasting anyone's time.

If you're in crisis and need to talk right now, there are many helplines manned by trained staff. ready to listen. They won't judge you and could help you make sense of what you're feeling.

  • If you're in Scotland, visit SAMH (Scottish Action for Mental Health) for help and resources in your area.

  • If you're outside the UK, Befrienders Worldwide allows you to search by country for emotional support helplines around the world.

  • BPD can be considered a disability and if those with the condition meet certain criteria may be available to reach financial government support. Find out more at Gov.uk
